Description
GEORGE MARSHALL AND THE AMERICAN CENTURY Produced by Great Projects Film Co, Inc. In Association with South Carolina Educational Television Network. This is the story of General George Marshall's career. Between Allied leaders he was a diplomatic statesman, and was essential as a global leader in Washington D.C. He helped to guide President Truman in regards to the use of the Atom Bomb and the implementation of the Marshall Plan, which was a turning point to relations in Europe. He became President Truman's Secretary of State in 1947 and was influential prior and subsequent to the Korean War. During the War Marshall became Secretary of Defense and guided Truman to MacArthur's dismissal, and was vilified for his role in that decision. Retiring in 1951, Marshall won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1953, for the creation of the Marshall Plan. VHS taoe.
