Description

Ceremony at the Truman Library sponsored by the American Friends of Hebrew University establishing the Harry S. Truman Center for Advancement of Peace, to be situated on the campus of the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. It launched a multi-million dollar project dedicated to applying scientific methods to the isolation and destruction of the causes of war. The ceremony is attended by President Lyndon B. Johnson, former President Harry S. Truman, former First Lady Bess Truman, Chief Justice Earl Warren, and many dignitaries from the United States and Israel. In addition to the formal purpose of the ceremony, President Johnson also took this opportunity to present Medicare cards numbered 1 and 2 to Mr. and Mrs. Truman.
