0:00   Unidentified voice: “1538” Harry S. Truman reads a quote from Negro Congressman Adam Clayton Powell of New York about how African Americans would rise up against bearing arms in the “Jim “Crow” army. Powell predicted 60,000 in pulpits of Negro churches would rise up against the hypocrisy, and that would be too many to put in jail. Mr. Truman calls this a “treasonable statement if ever there was one.” Mr. Truman is asked to re-read a paragraph of the quote. He does, then mentions again it is a treasonable statement. This was probably used in preparation for MP81-4, “Man from Missouri.”
