0:29   Mrs. Jacobson describes her wedding to Eddie Jacobson on December 8, 1919. They had a small, family wedding, which Harry S. Truman did not attend. Harry Truman met them at a downtown garage afterward and drove them to Independence to board a train for St. Louis. The Jacobson’s wanted to avoid pranks they thought their friends would pull on them. Harry S. Truman waited with them until the train arrived, as they warmed their hands on a coal stove.
2:09   Eddie called Harry “Harry” or more often “Boss.” Harry called Eddie “Eddie” or “Ed.”
2:49   She is asked about the haberdashery and their working relationship. She mentions the boys from Battery D would come by for loans and these loans would be handled by a handshake, nothing written down.
3:27   Did the Jacobsons socialize with the Trumans? The Jacobsons used to visit Martha Ellen Truman’s home in Grandview for picnics. Other than that, they didn’t see much of each other because of the difficulty of transportation in those days and because they had small children.
5:32   Mrs. Jacobson describes Eddie visiting President Truman in Washington, D. C. at a minute’s notice. She speaks of President Chaim Weizmann wanting Eddie to be with him during his visit with President Truman. David Niles and Matthew Connelly are mentioned as arranging these visits. This was probably used in preparation for MP80-8, “Man on the Lid.”
