0:00 | Ernest A. Gross describes being asked by Jack Hickerson, Assistant Secretary of State, to notify other members of the Security Council of the urgency in convening an emergency session following news of the Korea invasion. The call came from Washington at one or two a.m. The session would be at two p.m. that day, June 25th. Mr. Gross notes that the seven or eight members he called were all in bed and all realized they would not have time to get instructions from their government before the meeting that afternoon. He notes that no one knew the significance of the invasion. | |
