Shot List

  • Reel 1
0:00   Harry S. Truman at a desk, talking about meeting Josef Stalin and Winston Churchill at the Potsdam Conference. He had a pleasant meeting with them when he arrived.
0:46   Mr. Truman says he was there to implement the agreements at Yalta and Potsdam. There were 48 agreements, and Stalin broke every one of them.
2:31   Off screen direction.
Mr. Truman repeats how he came over on the USS Augusta and flew by plane to the Potsdam Conference. We hoped to get a program in which the Russians would agree on world peace. But the Russians didn't keep their agreements and that was one of the things that caused the Cold War. You couldn't make them keep their agreements unless you had more divisions than them. "We did, but we didn't use them."
