0:00   Harry S. Truman discusses his feelings about the threat of war, and states that he recorded this fear in his diary. There was no organization of European countries . "We were on our own." He speaks about the Berlin Blockade.
0:22   Mr. Truman details his discussions with General Vandenberg about sending more planes to Berlin, which the General believed would be met with Russian armed force. Mr. Truman states that we had to take risks. He decided "We would stay in Berlin come hell or high water." "We had to take the Russian dare." Mr. Truman states that planes came from Guam, Alaska, Tokyo, Hawaii, Texas, California, and from our allies (for the Berlin Airlift).
1:44   Harry S. Truman discusses the Democratic convention in Philadelphia on July 13th and his nomination for president. Fifty pigeons symbolizing peace were released, two were dead; one live one perched on Sam Rayburn's head.
