"Don't think the decision to recognize Israel was an easy one . . ." He speaks of wanting a homeland for the Jews and to still help the Arabs. He had to compromise with the Arabs to divide Palestine. A lot of the Jews wanted to drive the Arabs into the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers. Both sides were mad at him. He was able to do it because he had the support of Congress. | ||
