Reel 1

0:00   Merle Miller interviews Mrs. Eddie Jacobson about the haberdashery.
Mr. Miller: "I understand a lot of the boys from Battery D used to drop in at the store. What did they do?"
0:15   Mrs. Jacobson replies that the store was a hang out for the boys. It was a kind of home-coming, they would come and go, crack jokes, have a good old time. The store was a meeting place.
0:47   Mr. Miller: "When times got rough, did any of the boys hit the President for a loan?"
Mrs. Jacobson replies: "Oh, a good many of the boys dropped in and hit the President for a loan." Both the President and Eddie gave loans on just a handshake. "They trusted one another."
