Description

The American map of the Western front shows the route of the 262nd Ordnance Battalion (AM) from January 10, 1944 to August 8, 1945. This map features towns visited by the 262nd, printed drawings depicting locations in these towns, the location of 262nd command posts, and other details. Printed text, near Hohenbrunn, Germany, reads: "Dedicated to Capt. Lawrence E. Cooper, Jr., U.S. Army Medical Corps." Printed text on the back gives a history of the 262nd, organizations that are related, battalion headquarters personnel, and two letters from Lieutenant Colonel D.F. Shepherd and Lieutenant Colonel H.C. Holman. Handwritten text on the back indicates that this map is part of the President's Personal File. The handwriting reads in part: "PPF 2414, 2/7/46." There are two copies of this map.
