Description

An American map titled "Newsmap for the Armed Forces: Monday, April 30, 1945." The map of the European theater shows railroads, rivers, international boundaries, battle lines on the Western and Eastern front as of April 24, 1945, and the battle line on the Italian front. Printed text on this map describes Allied activity in Germany including: Bremen, Hamburg, Regensburg, Berlin, Dessau, Leipzig, and Dresden. Printed text also describes Allied activity in Italy including: Bologna, Ferrara, Modena, and La Spezia. The inset of Berlin shows roads, canals, railroads, railroad stations, railroad yards, airfields, optical works, and points of Soviet advance. The map of the Pacific theater shows railroads, rivers, the Burma Road, the Ledo (Stilwell) Road, and international boundaries. Printed text on this map describes American activity in the Philippines and Okinawa, British and Indian activity in Pyinmana, Burma, and Chinese activity in Yiang and Chihkiang, China. Printed text and drawings on the back describe the organizational planning of the United Nations. This section is titled "Geared to Peace and Progress."
