Description

An American map titled "Newsmap for the Armed Forces: Monday, February 5, 1945." The map of the Eastern front shows railroads, roads, rivers, international boundaries, and the battle line as of January 30, 1945. The inset of Berlin shows railroads, roads, rivers, canals, and areas of strategic importance. The map of the Western front shows railroads, roads, rivers, international boundaries, and the battle line as of January 30, 1945. The map of the Philippines shows roads, rivers, raised relief, the battle line as of January 30, 1945, the location of an American landing on January 30, 1945, and the locations of Clark, Nielson, and Nichols Field. The map of the Pacific theater shows railroads, rivers, Ledo (Stilwell) Road, Burma Road, international boundaries, the farthest extent of Japanese control, and the approximate area of Japanese control on January 29, 1945. This map also has several areas highlighted with descriptions of Allied and Japanese activity in Burma, French Indochina, China, Taiwan, Sumatra, the Philippines, Okinawa, Sakishima, Palau, Yap, Iwo Jima, Japan, and the Kurile Islands. Printed text reveals news on multiple fronts. Printed text and photographs on the back describe the efforts of the Army Postal Service and provides information to soldiers on how to properly address their mail. This section is titled "40 Million a Week."
