Description

An American map titled "Newsmap for the Armed Forces: Monday, November 20, 1944." The map of the Pacific theater shows railroads, rivers, relief, international boundaries, and the Burma Road. The map also highlights activity at Leyte Island in the Philippines, an Allied strike near Bhamo, Burma, the evacuation and destruction of Liuchow Air Base by the Fourteenth USAAF, and B-29 strikes on Kyushu, Japan, Nanking, China, and Shanghai, China. The map of Leyte Island shows roads, rivers, and points of American and Japanese activity. The map focusing on an American Third Army offensive shows roads, rivers, canals, international boundaries, battle lines, and points of Allied activity near Thionville, Briey, Maizieres, Metz, Verny, Chateau Salins, Rambervillers, and St. Die, France. The map of the Western front shows railroads, roads, rivers, canals, international boundaries, battle lines, and highlights the area covered on the Third Army offensive map. The map of the Eastern front, focusing on Hungary, shows railroads, roads, rivers, and points of Soviet activity near Budapest and Miskolc. Printed text reveals news on mulitiple fronts.
