Description

An American map titled "Newsmap for the Armed Forces: Monday, October 9, 1944." The map of the Palau Islands shows island passages, harbors, reefs, and areas under American control. The map of the Eastern and Italian front shows railroads, rivers, relief, international boundaries, battle lines, and points of Allied activity. The map of the Western front shows rivers, relief, international boundaries, battle lines, and points of Allied and German activity. Printed text reveals news on multiple fronts. A photograph on the back, showing part of "Operation Uppercut," is accompanied by printed text describing the importance of paratroopers. The text reads in part: "Dots in the sky...Dynamite on the ground."
