Description

An American map titled "Newsmap for the Armed Forces: Monday, October 2, 1944." The map of the Eastern front shows railroads, rivers, international boundaries, battle lines, and points of Soviet activity in Romania, Poland, Czechoslovakia, Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia. The map of the Western front shows railroads, roads, rivers, international boundaries, battle lines, and points of Allied and German activity in France, Luxembourg, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Germany. The map of the Italian front shows main roads, rivers, and points of Allied activity near Pietrasanta, the Futa Pass, and Rimini. The map of the Chinese front shows railroads, roads, rivers, boundaries, and points of Japanese activity from Nanchang through Lingling and from Hong Kong through Canton and Wuchow. Printed text reveals news on multiple fronts. Printed text on the back, accompanied by a drawing of a large crate, describes what is lost "if each of us wastes 1 pound of war material?ɬ¢?¢‚Äö¬¨?Ǭ¶" The text reads in part: "It isn't just money, materials or manpower that are lost. Waste will lose battles and cost lives."
