Description

An American map titled "Newsmap for the Armed Forces: Monday, September 18, 1944." The map of the Western front shows rivers, international boundaries, and the positions of the Canadian First Army, British Second Army, and the American First, Third, and Seventh Armies. The map of the European theater shows international boundaries and areas under Allied and Axis control. The map of the Italian and Eastern front shows railroads, rivers, international boundaries, and points of Allied activity in Italy, Bulgaria, and Romania. The map of the Chinese front shows railroads, rivers, areas under Allied and Japanese control, the location of a Chinese attack along the Yangtze River, the point of Japanese drives through Hengyang to Lingling and Leiyang, and the location of a B-29 attack at Anshan, Manchuria. Printed text and photographs reveal news on multiple fronts.
