Description

An American map titled "Newsmap for the Armed Forces: Monday, August 14, 1944." The map of the Western front shows rivers, roads, the battle line at the start of the Allied offensive on July 27, 1944, and the points of Allied advance from Normandy through Brittany. Some of the main Allied drives highlighted follow towards Brest, Lorient, St. Nazaire, Nantes, among other places. The inset of the Western front highlights the area covered on the larger map. The map of the southwest Pacific shows rivers, distances from Manado to Batulaki, Davao to Sansapor, and Sansapor to Watam. The smaller map of the Pacific theater shows areas under Japanese control. Printed text and photographs reveal news on multiple fronts. Printed text on the back is accompanied by a drawing of a rifle with a bayonet. The text reads in part: "Let this do your talking!"
