Description

An American map titled "Newsmap for the Armed Forces: Monday, July 10, 1944." The map of Normandy shows railroads, roads, rivers, battle lines, and points of Allied activity near La Haye du Puits, St. Jores, St. Clair, St. Lo, Caen, and Esquay. The map of the Italian front shows roads, rivers, relief, battle lines, and points of Allied activity near Cecina, Volterra, Sienna, Cortona, Lake Trasimeno, San Giovanni, Valfbbrica, and Loreto. The inset of Italy highlights the location of the larger map. The map of the Pacific theater shows railroads, rivers, international boundaries, and points of Allied and Japanese activity near Myitkyina, Burma, Hengyang, China, the Volcano Islands, the Bonin Islands, Saipan, Marianas Islands, Noemfoor Island, and Palau, Yap, and Truk of the Caroline Islands. The map of the Eastern front shows railroads, rivers, relief, international boundaries, the battle line as of June 23, 1944, the current battle line, and points of Soviet activity near Polotsk, Molodeczno, Minsk, and Stolbtsy. Printed text reveals news on multiple fronts.
