Description

An American map titled "Newsmap for the Armed Forces: Monday, May 1, 1944." The map of the Pacific theater shows railroads, rivers, international boundaries, and other details. The locations circled, including Burma, India, Sumatra, New Guinea, the Bismarck Archipelago, the Solomon Islands, the Marianas Islands, the Truk Islands, and the Marshall Islands, indicate areas of action. Printed text and photographs reveal news on multiple fronts. Printed text, drawings, and photographs on the back provide soldiers with details regarding home front production of guns, shells, ships, planes, and vehicles. Part of the print reads: "This is the work of your sisters and brothers, mothers and fathers, sweethearts and friends."
