Description

An American map titled "Newsmap for the Armed Forces: Monday, March 27, 1944." The larger map, focusing on the Cassino area of the Italian front, shows railroads, rivers, relief, and the present battle area. The inset of the Cassino area highlights roads, rivers, railroads, buildings, drainage canals, relief, and areas under Allied and German control. The map of the Burma front shows roads, trails, railroads, and points of Allied and Japanese activity. The map of the Central Pacific shows areas under American and Japanese control and the distances between these areas. The map of the southwest Pacific, near New Guinea, New Britain, and adjacent islands, highlights areas under American and Japanese control and the distance from Emirau to Truk. Printed text and photographs reveal news on multiple fronts. Printed text and photographs on the back describe some of the operations of the USS Ranger.
