French map titled "Foret D'Argonne." The map, numbered 195 in a series, is overprinted to show trench lines and battery positions as of July 23, 1918. Several red pencil annotations show the movement of the 137th, 138th, 139th, and 140th Infantry (35th Division) from September 28 to September 30, 1918. A pencil note on the front reads: "Original map used by R.I.O 140 Inf 35 Div in Argonne Sept 25-18 to Oct 1-18." The top of the map is stamped "Secret." A note on the back reads: "This map used in Battle of Argonne by R.I.O 140 Inf Sept 25-18 to Oct 1-18." Donated by Ralph E. Truman.
