Description

French map titled "Munster." Stamped at the top of the map in red is "Secret No. 168." The map is annotated to show trench lines, fields of fire, and allied and enemy positions. A handwritten note on the back of the map reads: "Operation map used in Vosges Mountains by 140th Infantry, July to September 1918." Another note on the back reads: "166.7.8 Sec Mun 1-20." An attached typewritten page describes some of the markings found on the map. It lists the regimental headquarters at Larshey, regimental observations post at Klinzkopf, and battalion headquarters at Degglbert, Colette, and Garibaldi.
