Description

A German map titled "Ailly S.O." The map, numbered 167 in a series, is of the Somme region of northern France, southeast of Amiens. The map, made from German aircraft observations, is annotated to show trench systems, positions, and supply of Allied forces as of July 23, 1918. Print at the top left corner translates to: "Don't take this map to the front lines." Handwriting on the back reads: "Luol."
