The Papers of Ted Marks consist of the contents of a scrapbook of photographs, postcards, newspaper clippings, and other documents that mostly pertain to his military service and his friendship with President Harry S. Truman.
Included in the collection are photographs of Marks in uniform during his military career, and in civilian life as an official with the Veterans Employment Service. Mr. Truman also appears in several of these photographs. Most of the postcards in the collection depict various tourist attractions in Europe. The newspaper clippings relate to Marks' friendship with Truman, his career with the Veterans Employment Service, and other aspects of his life. A newspaper article dating from 1992 was added to the collection by the donor some years after Marks' death.
The collection also contains a small amount of correspondence, as well as explanatory notes provided by the donor, invitations, travel records, printed items, and assorted memorabilia.
Correspondence between Harry S. Truman and Ted Marks, along with related information, can be found in the President's Personal File (PPF 1442), the President's Secretary's Files, and the Post-Presidential Papers.
