Linda King (Mrs. Oscar King) was a friend of Bess W. Truman and a member of her bridge club in Independence, Missouri.
This collection is made up of the contents of a scrapbook compiled by Mrs. Linda King. It includes newspaper clippings, photographs, correspondence, menus, invitations, and postcards mostly pertaining to Mrs. King’s membership in Bess Truman’s bridge club in Independence, Missouri. The members of the club visited Mrs. Truman in Washington in 1946, and Mrs. King’s scrapbook is chiefly devoted to this occasion.
This collection includes messages from Bess and Margaret Truman, Mrs. King, Perle Mesta, and others, and photographs of the Trumans and the other members of the bridge club.
