The Papers of John K. Hulston mainly consist of legal documents and printed materials regarding Harry S. Truman.
Included are circuit court records, legal filings from the Shannon County Court and Missouri Supreme Court, and legal statements regarding two cases: Frank C. Gallagher vs. J. William Chilton and Anna Davis and J. William Chilton and Anna Davis vs. Harry S. Truman. These documents were collected by Hulston and relate to a dispute over land in Shannon County, Missouri, that involved Harry S. Truman. The dispute was carried on in Missouri courts from 1907 to 1917.
Hulston’s autobiography, An Ozarks Lawyer’s Story, 1946-1976, which is in the Truman Library’s book collection, describes his many interests and business ventures as well as his personal life. The Truman Library also has an oral history interview with John K. Hulston.
