The papers of Ike Skelton include correspondence, printed materials, and other items that document Congressman Skelton's relationship with the Harry S. Truman Library and Margaret Truman Daniel. The papers are arranged in a single series, the Subject File.
The Subject File contains letters and invitations received by Skelton from Margaret Truman Daniel, from representatives of the Harry S. Truman Library Institute for National and International Affairs, and from others. Some of the correspondence relates to awards received by Skelton, such as the Harry S Truman Good Neighbor Award and the Spurgeon Smithson Award.
The printed materials in the Subject File include bills relating to Mr. Truman that Skelton introduced in Congress as the Representative from Missouri's Fourth Congressional District. Also included in the series are copies of handwritten speech drafts prepared by Truman for an address at Wentworth Military Academy and College (Skelton's alma mater) in 1954, and related press clippings.
A small amount of correspondence with Ike Skelton can be found in the Harry S. Truman Papers. Skelton's Congressional papers are at the State Historical Society of Missouri.
