The papers of George S. Robinson include correspondence, printed materials, reports, handwritten notes, and other documents concerning Robinson’s career in government, especially his work with the Senate Special Committee on Organized Crime in Interstate Commerce (the Kefauver Committee) and the Department of the Air Force. The collection is arranged in a single series, the Subject File.
Correspondence, covering the period from 1932 to 1965, makes up much of the collection, and consists mostly of letters and memorandums regarding Robinson’s career in government.
The collection also contains memorandums, printed materials, and handwritten notes (the latter filed under ‘Legal File’) that pertain to Robinson’s work for the Kefauver Committee in its investigation of organized crime in the U.S.
Also included in the collection is information about Robinson’s service in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Force Reserve; and his work with Colonel Guy H. Goddard and (later) Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara in improving housing for Air Force personnel and their families.
More information about the Kefauver Committee can be found at the Truman Library in the papers of Agnes Wolf.
