The papers of Elmer Gertz include correspondence, brochures, newsletters, programs, booklets, speeches, studies, press releases, and book-length publications relating to Gertz, President Truman, and the 1956 campaign of Adlai E. Stevenson. The collection is arranged in a single Subject File.
The correspondence in the collection deals with various aspects of Gertz’s career, including legal cases and his association with the Decalogue Society of Lawyers. While with this society, he delivered a number of speeches which are included in the collection. The collection also contains a variety of publicity materials, as well as pamphlets and booklets from various events involving President Truman, President Kennedy, and Adlai E. Stevenson, and several reports and studies written by Gertz and others. Much of this material reflects Gertz’s interest and involvement in American politics and government.
