AMENDMENT OF EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 100001 OF SEPTEMBER 16, 1948, PRESCRIBING REGULATIONS GOVERNING ADDITIONAL COMPENSATION AND CREDIT GRANTED CERTAIN EMPLOYESS OF THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT SERVING OUTSIDE THE UNITED STATES
By virtue of the authority vested in me by sections 303, 443, and 853 of the Foreign Service Act of 1946 (60 Stat. 1002, 1006, 1024; 22 U.S.C. 843, 888, 1093), by the act of August 8, 1950 (64 Stat. 419; 3 U.S.C. 301-303), and as President of the United States, it is ordered as follows:
1. Sections 402, 503, and 601 of Executive Order No. 10000 of September 16, 1948, are hereby amended to read as follows:
"SEC. 402. Salary differentials. Foreign Service staff officers and employees at the posts referred to in section 401, above, shall, while such posts remain Foreign Service differential posts, be paid additional compensation in the form of salary differentials at rates not to exceed 25 percent of the basic salary rates of the staff corps pay schedule, in accordance with such regulations as the Secretary of State may prescribe."
"SEC. 503. Designation and cancellations of designation of unhealthful posts. The Secretary of State is hereby authorized and empowered to exercise the authority vested in the President by section 853 of the Foreign Service Act of 1946 (22 U.S.C. 1093) to establish from time to time a list of places which by reason of climatic or other extreme conditions are to be classed as unhealthful posts and to cancel the designation of any places as unhealthful. Each place designated as unhealthful by the Secretary hereunder shall be so designated as of January 1, 1942, or as of a later date to be fixed by the Secretary. The provisions of sections 501 and 502 of this Executive order shall be subject to the authority delegated to the Secretary of State by this section."
"SEC. 601. Publication. Regulations prescribed the Secretary of State and the Civil Service Commission, and designations of places and rates fixed by them, under or pursuant to this order shall be published in the FEDERAL REGISTER."
2. Section 404 of the said Executive Order No. 10000 is hereby revoked.
