EXECUTIVE ORDER 10257

AMENDMENT OF EXECUTIVE ORDER 7397 OF JUNE 20, 1936, AS AMENDED, ESTABLISHING THE FEDERAL FIRE COUNCIL

By virtue of and pursuant to the authority vested in me as President of the United States, and in consonance with the provisions of the Federal Property and Administrative Services Act of 1949, approved June 30, 1949 (63 Stat. 377), it is ordered that paragraphs 1 and 2 of Executive Order No. 7397 of June 20, 1936, entitled "Establishing the Federal Fire Council as an Advisory Agency in Matters Relating to the Protection of Federal Employees and Property from Fire," as amended by Executive Orders No. 8194 of July 6, 1939, (1) and No. 9594 of July 28, 1945, (2) be, and they are hereby, amended to read as follows:

"1. The Federal Fire Council, hereinafter referred to as the Council, is hereby established in the General Services Administration, as an official advisory agency in matters relating to the protection of Federal employees and property from fire. The functions of the Council shall be performed under the direction and supervision of the Administrator of General Services.

"2. The council shall have a governing body composed of the Commissioner of Public Buildings, who shall serve as Chairman; the Archivist of the United States; the Assistant Postmaster General in charge of the Bureau of Facilities; the Chief of Engineers, United States Army; the Chief of the Bureau of Yards and Docks, United States Navy; the Director of Installations, office of the Deputy Chief of Staff, Materiel, Headquarters, United States Air Force; the Director of the National Park Service; and the Director of the National Bureau of Standards. The Chairman shall appoint such other officers and committees as he may deem necessary to carry out the functions of the Council."

The said Executive Orders No. 8194 and No. 9594 are hereby revoked.
