The papers of Dan A. Kimball include correspondence, newspaper clippings, booklets, handwritten notes, speeches, and other items concerning Kimball’s career in government and private industry. The collection is arranged in a single Subject File.
Kimball’s papers document his work in the Navy Department from 1949 to 1953. The correspondence in the collection is addressed to various individuals, including the Secretary and Under Secretary of Defense. Kimball also received and responded to requests for autographs and pictures.
Records from his trips abroad, to Europe and the Far East, include correspondence, booklets, maps, and related memorabilia. Logs detail Kimball’s daily visitors and telephone calls during this period. The collection also includes handwritten notes and newspaper clippings related to Kimball’s work, and speeches delivered by Kimball.
The Truman Library also has the papers of John L. Sullivan and Francis Matthews, who preceded Kimball as Secretary of the Navy under President Truman.
