Sister of Harry S. Truman
The papers of Mary Jane Truman consist of financial records, legal documents, handwritten notes, memoranda, correspondence, maps, scrapbooks, and other items mostly concerning her brother, Harry S. Truman. The papers relate to Harry Truman's military service before, during, and after World War I; his operation of the Truman farm at Grandview, Missouri; and his work as a road overseer in Jackson County, Missouri. Some of the papers pertain to the activities of Mary Jane, her father, John Anderson Truman, and her other brother, J. Vivian Truman.

The documents in this collection consist of material related to Mary Jane Truman, her brothers, Harry S. Truman and J. Vivian Truman, and her father, John Anderson Truman. Included are financial records, legal documents, handwritten notes, memoranda, correspondence, maps, scrapbooks, and other items. The Mary Jane Truman papers consist of one series, a Subject File.
The series contains army documents pertaining to Harry S. Truman's enlistment and service in the Missouri National Guard and his service as an artillery officer with the 129th Field Artillery, 35th Division, U.S. Army in France during World War I. The farm related documents consist of handwritten notes, financial records, and legal documents regarding the Truman Grandview farm, family correspondence and account statements.
Other documents consist of handwritten notes and legal documents relating to the Truman family piano and Truman's Stafford automobile, and a composition book containing an 8th grade essay by J. Vivian Truman. Also included are documents related to the Morgan Oil Company, patents applied for by John Anderson Truman, maps and guide books from the Orleans and Dijon regions of France, financial records and scrapbooks.
