Students will research one presidential election each semester. Students will listen to the Washington Post Podcast “Presidential” about the presidency they selected. Students will create a poster about the election and presidency. Then they will present a 3-5 minute presentation about their president, using their poster and the information they gained from researching the president and the election.
Students in Advanced Placement US History will study the major elections and events of each American presidency. Students understanding of each election and presidency will help them to contextualize major events in American history.

Students will utilize primary sources from each presidential election.
- For each election, students will be required to use at least one primary source in their discussion.
- Presidential Library websites when available for the election.
- Students will research their assigned election.
- They will listen to the Presidential podcast episode about their election and write a paragraph summary of the episode.
- Students will create a poster about the election and presidency.
- Then they will present a 3-5 minute presentation about their president, using their poster and the information they gained from researching the president and the election.
- Students must include the information from the APUSH Presidents file about their president.
They must explain the major items in their presentation.
- Teacher will grade the presentations using the rubric.
