They are in Washington to discuss serious economic problems concerning iron mines in their area. Mr. Nacy said "Above all, do let them see the President. This is just what these men need to give them the necessary inspiration to carry on. I think you understand that recent events have had some serious repercussions out here in Minnesota. President Truman will need the help of these municipal officials, etc.")

Mr. Frank P. Dodd, Parkersburg, West Virginia (Mr. Dodd wrote the President a note recalling that he was a member of the reception committee to receive the President in Parkersburg in the campaign of 1944; that he planned to visit his daughter in Washington and hoped that he might have the honor of shaking hands with the President. Senator Kilgore reported that Mr. Dodd was a member of the Democratic County Committee and a good Democrat. Senator Kilgore thought that if it could be arranged, it might be a good idea to let him in.)

They were accompanied by several guests who came in with Admiral Nimitz. Photographers were present and pictures were taken.)
The President drove to the estate of Mr. Joe Himes, one mile out of Frederick, Maryland, for dinner and the picnic of the Alfalfa club. After dinner the President motored to Shangri-La for the week- end.

The South Carolina Peach Growers' Association presented the President with a basket of peaches. He said that the President stayed at Hotel Ambassador which was the Democratic Convention headquarters.
