SUPERVISED BY: Sales Operation Manager
PURPOSE OF JOB: Interacting with interesting people and helping to create a memorable experience, hospitality volunteers are the first point of contact visitors have at the Harry S. Truman Library & Museum. They are frequently called on to attend public programs, so applicants should be comfortable working with people and contributing in a team environment.
DUTIES MAY INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Providing assistance to museum visitors by meeting and greeting them in the main lobby.
- Providing directional information to visitors (local restaurants, nearby historic sites, etc.).
- Answering questions from visitors about museum exhibits and the life of President Truman.
- Directing visitors to various areas in the museum.
A minimum commitment of four hours a week for at least 6 months is required. Hours available include daytime or evenings, every day of the week.

Must be age 16 or older
Enjoy meeting and interacting with other people
Personable, outgoing
Reliable, responsible, mature
Able to work independently
Able to accept supervision
Enthusiastic
Good communication skills
Knowledgeable about historic Independence and greater Kansas City area
TRAINING/ORIENTATION PROVIDED:
Initial orientation
Meet with the Sales Operation Manager
Basic reading material on Harry S. Truman and exhibit material
Showing of the Charles Guggenheim film
Attend two tours given by different docents
Work alongside a current hospitality host/hostess until you are comfortable working independently
