Description

Inaugural parade float representing the city of Chicago, Illinois featuring imagery of the Chicago skyline and a heart that says "Chicago's Heart Turned the Tide to Victory to Harry S. Truman." The capitol building is visible in the background. The woman in the white velvet dress trimmed in gold at the front of the float is Patricia Reedy, who was designated the Inaugural Queen by the Chicago Sun-Times newspaper. The other women on the float are unidentified. The float was designed by Alan Metreger. Donor: General Harry Vaughan for Major General Akins.
