Description
Ambassador Edwin W. Pauley, reparations commissioner, is shown in his car just after his arrival at National Airport in Washington, DC, July 19, 1946. Pauley visited sixteen countries as President Harry S. Truman's personal representative on the Allied Reparations Committee from 1945-47, the committee that assessed the reparations the Axis powers could afford to pay the victors.
